A Jacksonville holiday tradition is making its return to Thanksgiving weekend. The City of Jacksonville is excited to announce the Jacksonville Light Boat Parade will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 on the St. Johns River.
The Jacksonville Light Boat Parade has been a holiday tradition for more than 30 years. Vessels of all shapes and sizes adorn their hulls with festive decorations as they float along the north and south banks of the St. John River. Residents and visitors alike gather along the north and south riverbanks in downtown Jacksonville to witness this magical event. The evening then culminates with one of the best fireworks show on the First Coast featuring “waterfalls” off of the Main Street and Acosta Bridges.
The boat parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Boats will start at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront Hotel and follow along the Northbank Riverwalk to the Fuller Warren Bridge. The parade will then cross to the south bank and follow along the Riverwalk to the Duval County School Board building.
All Captains and Crews Invited to Participate!
Deck your hulls and kick off the holiday season on the St. Johns River as thousands of spectators view the parade along the banks. Captains and crews of motor-assisted vessels of all shapes and sizes are invited to participate in the Jacksonville Light Boat Parade. Registration is open and participation is free
Participants will be judged on overall look and decoration composition.
Judging categories: Vessels 29' and under; Vessels 30' and over; Sailboat; and Corporate

The evening will close with one of the most memorable fireworks shows on the First Coast! Fireworks will be launched from a barge located in the St. Johns River, placed between the Hyatt Regency Riverfront and DoubleTree hotels, as well as the Acosta Bridge. The show will also feature the famous "waterfalls" off of the Main Street and Acosta bridges.
The fireworks show will be at approximately 9 p.m.
The Jacksonville Light Boat Parade and fireworks show can be clearly viewed from the north and south banks of the St. Johns River. The parade route will begin at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront Hotel and follow the Northbank Riverwalk to the Fuller Warren Bridge. The parade will then cross to the south bank and follow along the Southbank Riverwalk to the Duval County School Board building.
